Publisher Description
Lies, all lies. It didn't matter how attractive he might be. She didn't really know this man . . . He was living a lie and she didn't know why.
Kaitlyn Scott is searching for the truth about her husband's death, even if that means revisiting the most painful day of her life. But what she uncovers is a criminal willing to stop at nothing to keep his secret.
Ryan O'Donnell, an enigmatic undercover cop, is investigating arson attacks when he is drawn into Kaitlyn's world. He tries to fight his attraction for her, hoping the case might put his own demons to rest, but it only threatens to push him over the edge.
With Kaitlyn and Ryan on a collision course, the arsonist seizes the chance to settle some old scores. As the Atherton Tableland burns, the three of them are caught in a fiery dance of danger and desire, and not everyone will come out alive.
Set in Australia's tropical far north, this is an explosive story of peril and passion by the author voted by the Romance Writers of Australia as the most popular novelist of the year, and by the Australian Romance Readers Association as the most popular romantic suspense novelist two years running.

APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
In this romantic suspense novel, Australian author Helene Young thrusts Border Watch pilot Kaitlyn Scott into the center of an arson investigation. Haunted by the memory of her husband’s fiery death five years earlier, Kaitlyn must outsmart a devious criminal and negotiate her feelings for undercover federal officer Ryan O’Donnell. Young’s experiences as a commercial airline pilot lend her descriptions of aviation—as well as the lush landscapes of the Atherton Tablelands—an engrossing veracity. With its compellingly complicated protagonists, Burning Lies is a delightfully paced page-turner that neatly balances the growing attraction between Kaitlyn and Ryan with the mounting danger of the investigation.

Most enjoyable
A great follow up read to the first book, with familiar and likeable character's reappearing to complement the new people. The technical aspects of the aviation theme are spot on, and I have no doubt the fire fighting community are satisfied as well. The romance is agreeable, trending a teensy bit towards corny at the end, but true romantics will be delighted.
As good as the first book
This book is as good as Helene's first book, maybe even better with great developed characters and a plot with unexpected twists and turns.
Settings in Cairns and surrounding areas and the Tablelands come to life with her knowledge and skill.
Helene's second book set this story up beautifully. A great follow on for Ryan's story.
Burning Lies by Helene Young
I took one day off from my life to read this book and I enjoyed it.
Helene is good at painting the scene and those scenes are familiar - I enjoy reading from Australian authors for this reason. The story made me really angry about those criminals who terror our land like that - trying not to be a spoiler here.
The storyline was a little predictable and the character building was not as sharp as I would like. Nevertheless, I couldn't put it down.
