A spate of seemingly unconnected murders in southern England prompt a high-profile taskforce to be formed and led by DCI Jack Hawksworth, one of the Force’s new rising stars who combines modern methods with old-school instincts.
The victims appear as disparate as their style of death; the only link that Hawk and his team can pull together is that the murdered are all men of an identical age. The taskforce has nothing but cold cases of decades past to comb through in the hope that they might find a clue to who is behind the savagery.
A heart-stopping tale of brutal revenge with a chilling twist by a powerhouse Australian author.

APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
Author Fiona McIntosh is an Aussie—but you'd never guess it by reading Bye Bye Baby, the first in the DCI Jack Hawksworth series. McIntosh has zeroed in on the particularities of her London setting, drawing an intriguing character in crack detective Jack as he assembles a handpicked team of Scotland Yard's best and brightest to solve a series of gruesome murders. It's a case with clues that stretch back decades—and will force Jack to come to terms with his own past in order to solve it. McIntosh is better known for her fantasy and historical fiction, but this initial outing (originally published in 2007) proves she possesses an equally deft hand when it comes to crime and police procedurals. Admirers of her work in other genres, and fans of thrillers with a British bent, will find much to enjoy here.
