The ghosts and Mrs Erickson
Everton, the keeper of the elemental garden and Bellusio, the dragon both call upon Kaylin, they find that Mrs Erickson, Kaylin’s new houseguest, has powers and concerns that soon entanfgle them both. When Kaylin killed the Barrini mage that had killed so many people, all in the attempt to control Mrs Ericsson’s talent with communicating the dead, she left a few thins undone. This has led to a resurgence of power at the site of Mrs Ericsson’s old home and Kaylin is charged by the imperial court to ensure the power doesn’t escape into Elantra itself. Kaylin per usual, has no idea of how to use the powers she has, she is therefore reluctant to ask the elderly Mrs Erickson to use hers.
There are ghosts, magic, intrigue, dragons, the powers of the ancients and of course at the centre of it all, one tether reluctant and ignorant human, Kaylin Neva, who just wants to be a Hawk, a law keeper for Electra not a go-between for greater powers than humanity.
