This is an amazing book. I’d definitely give it 5+ stars if I could. Michelle Dare is unafraid to write about issues that affect society. This book tells the story of the death of a young woman, Leah, and the impact experienced by her friends and family. The main focus is on Daniela, Leah’s best friend, and Garrett, another friend who had moved away. The story is very sad and heart wrenching. It looks at depression, anxiety and even suicide. I became totally immersed in the grief experienced by those left behind and was encouraged and inspired by the way that the group of friends tried to provide support for each other. This book was also a story of love, a silent love, that was felt for so long and deeply, by a boy from high school until he became a man who had to face death for the first time. I was inspired by the willingness of Daniela and Garrett to fight to achieve their well deserved happy ever after. Michelle Dare must be congratulated, thanked and respected as she writes with sensitivity, compassion and great authority on her subjects, which are often societal issues that are considered taboo.
