Bland and mindless
Nonsensical. The pacing was great, the conversation is eerie and suspenseful, and I was gripped wanting the pieces to fall together and for the ending to be revealed. Ultimately, a waste of time and a waste of potential. The reveal is woefully disappointing and does not hold up to any logic. Save yourself $9.00 and read some decent Creepypastas.
Overrated
Read this having seen it come up multiple times as being one of the better “horror” novels of recent years. However, not only is it light on the “horror”, it’s light on coherence. This is a writer’s pompous personified and I can only hope it is a fault of the translation and not the original text.
