Disgusting until it’s tragically beautiful

Possibly one of the least liKeable (and least reliable) narrators of any modern tale, even by Irvine Welsh standards. The main character Bruce Robertson WILL maKe you want to vomit.
He’s not a comPlicated hero, he’s
downright sicKening and arguably evil.
But goddamnit, in the last 20 Pages I started feeling - symaPathy? - for this self-obsessed, racist, sexist, ugly, diseased, mentally ill, intentionally corruPt, malicious ‘Detective’.
Welsh Paints a Picture of an irredeemable monster, then bids him farewell with, if not an excuse for his vileness, at least an understandable exPlanation.
