Publisher Description
My incredible one-night stand is apparently teaching my math class.
I don't do relationships. Between the pressure of going pro, my agent's calls, and my estranged father's latest blackmail demand, the last thing I need is a complication.
Then she leans across the bar on New Year's Eve.
Fern is everything I shouldn't want — sharp-tongued, brilliant, with curves to inspire a Renaissance painting. One unforgettable night with her is the best bad decision I've ever made.
Until I walk into Algebra recitation on Monday morning and find her standing at the front of the room.
She's the TA. I'm the student.
And if anyone finds out about us, her career is over before it starts.
We promise to keep things professional. We fail. Miserably. Sneaking around with the smartest, softest, most fearless woman I've ever met is the only thing keeping me sane while my past closes in.
But when my father's schemes put Fern in the crosshairs of a smear campaign, I have to decide what I'm willing to sacrifice to protect her future — even if it means walking away from mine.
A swoony, scorching forbidden romance featuring a bookworm soccer star, a curvy math genius with London-sized dreams, a found family that shows up when it counts, and a forbidden student/teacher twist where he's the one in the classroom.
Perfect for fans of Tessa Bailey, Helena Hunting, and Elle Kennedy. Can be read as a standalone.

True love and Resilience
I loved this book. Fern and Wyatt are perfect for each other.
Fern is working the bar to pay her way through University. Wyatt sits at the bar with a book as he is the designated driver for his cousins on New Year’s Eve.
Fern and Wyatt are attracted to each other. Fern approaches him and talks to him. They hit it off and hook up on New Year’s Eve.
After the holidays, Fern takes a position as a Teaching Assistant and Wyatt winds up in her class.
The attraction between them grows. Wyatt is committed to changing his surname legally. He reaches out to his biological father, Nick who blackmails him and tries to extort money from him. Once he changes his surname he is focused on signing a professional football contract.
Fern, on the hand is trying to finish her undergraduate degree, is teaching introductory algebra and is focused on obtaining a fellowship from a prestigious college in London to do her PhD.
Fern and Wyatt have a lot to lose, especially if the University finds out she is a teaching assistant and Wyatt is her student.
The path to true love for Wyatt and Fern is rocky but these two are drawn to each other. These two are resilient and are focused on their careers but realise they love each other and are the missing piece for each other.
This book is sad, funny and makes you believe in the power and love, family and friends.
I loved how the Stag family supported Wyatt and Fern. Hawk, Lucy, Patty (Grand), Holly (Lolly), Thora, Heather and Wyatt’s cousins are hilarious and truly amazing.
I recommend this book to other readers.
Another Lainey Davis special!
A quick read that is full of sweet, steamy fun with brilliant characters, you can’t help but love, and a storyline that was easy to fall into.
I’m loving the second generation of Stag brothers.
Thank you to the author
They have different goals but are so good together 💕
This is the third in the second generation Stag family series. Delicious Wyatt is Hawk’s stepson, one of the original Stag brothers. Wyatt is trying to navigate some serious life complications without involving any of the Stags. He wants a football (soccer) contract for after uni, and is battling with a toxic relationship with his natural father. It’s not too angsty, but my heart still broke for him. Fern is trying so hard to get through uni and get a scholarship to do her PhD in maths in the UK. They have very different goals on different continents. And yet…. Fern and Wyatt are lovely together. We just know they will be the best team, if only they can get everything sorted. They are great in the sack 🌶🌶, but there’s so much more, plenty of caretaking and consent, they look out for each other and I was barracking for them both.
Lainey always has something to say and in this case she’s observing some of the inequities and difficulties that Fern faces as a new Teaching Assistant at Pittsburgh Uni. She has no training, little support, her boss is intimidating and unavailable and she doesn’t know how to navigate her new TA job. She and Wyatt are the same age, even though she’s the TA and he’s a student. There’s some angst here, and its squarely at the feet of the University. Wyatt and Fern are so good together and both are working hard and making good choices. It’s a warm and character driven read. If you love the Stags, and the Pittsburgh universe that Lainey has created, this is a wonderful addition 💖Recommended!
