Publisher Description
A swoony, heart-wrenching small-town romance from USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestseller Sarina Bowen!
Leila:
What I meant to do: quietly divorce my lout of a husband and then have a child all on my own.
What happens instead: my crush comes back to town when I’m at my most vulnerable. After too many cocktails, I ask him to be my baby’s father.
In my defense, it’s been a rough couple of months. Seeing Matteo Rossi again after fourteen years has done a number on my emotions. And my libido.
In the morning, I’m hoping he’s forgotten the whole thing. But no such luck. In fact, Matteo has a few clarifying questions. And a few naughty ideas, too…
Matteo:
What I meant to do: visit Vermont for my brother’s wedding. Make amends to my family, and mourn the loss of a friend.
What happens instead: a hot affair with the one who got away. But it can’t last. My life is two thousand miles away, and Leila deserves everything. She’s as good as gold.

All the feels
Good as Gold captivated from the moment I picked this second chance, friends to lovers journey. I love small town romances and Leila and Matteo’s story certainly ticked all my boxes. Leila Giltmaker and Matteo Rossi were childhood best friends but he chose to walk away and never look back but now he is back looking to spend some time in his childhood town and hopefully save his business. Lelia is back because she has finally woken up and has walked away from a marriage that was going nowhere. Recently divorced she just needs to recharge her batteries and she certainly doesn’t need another relationship……. Two people back home for different reasons find themselves spending time together and they realise they need to repair their friendship but what happens when feelings come bubbling to the surface ….one click now to find out. I loved this emotional and entertaining read, I fell hard and fast for the characters and I was captivated by their journey but what made this a very special read was the way my feelings jumped all over the place, smiling one moment, shedding some tears the next and then suddenly breaking out into fits of laughter. The journey was never going to be easy for this couple but I was so happy I joined ride. Good as Gold can be read as a stand-alone but if you have read The True North Series set in Vermont you are in for a treat as familiar characters make some unexpected appearances.
Loved it
From the first chapter I was drawn into the story that Ms. Bowen wove. This can definitely be read or listened to as a stand-alone but if you are familiar with the True North series, set in Vermont, then you are in for a treat with familiar faces popping up throughout.
I loved Matteo Rossi, he is a man who has finally returned home to see his family and in part, confront his past, which is where Leila Giltmaker comes into the story. He is a man reeling from the recent death of his best friend and how it has affected him.
Good As Gold was a well written, emotional, romantic love story that will have you totally invested. There were moments where I was moved to tears, times where I laughed and times where I just smiled like a lunatic.
Told in both past and present perspectives, the emotional turmoil that is Matteo and Leila’s journey was at times heartbreaking. Their road was rocky but it was so worth it in the end.
