THE TIMES

It is 1987 and a small Irish community is shattered by a terrible accident. Young Connor is one of the survivors, but staying among the angry and the mourning is more than he can bear. He leaves the only place he knows, taking his secrets with him.

Travelling first to Liverpool, then London, he eventually makes a home for himself in New York. The city provides shelter and possibility, somewhere Connor can forget his past and start a new life. But the longings and regrets that have come to haunt those left behind will not be silenced. And before long, Connor will have to confront his past.

Loved it

A fab read, some good twists and great characters

Very Irish.

Maybe I chose the wrong book to start my reading journey with Graham Norton or maybe I was influenced by comments made by other authors & readers. It just wasn’t for me even though it was written with sensitivity, true characters of an Irish country town & the way it was until recent laws were brought into being. I struggled with changing chapters & time frames having continuity, however I persevered to the end which along the way explained all with light relief.

Great story!

Just finished reading this .... enjoyed it so much .... the twists and turns in lives shattered by intolerance, choices and decisions ..... such events resonate with us all .... great insight into the intolerance of our not-so-long-ago history. Thank you for the great read.
