Publisher Description
You won't believe what happens inside Indonesia's most notorious jail!
FROM THE ACCLAIMED AUTHOR OF TRUE CRIME BESTSELLERS SNOWING IN BALI AND OPERATION PLAYBOY: Kathryn Bonella.
Welcome to Hotel Kerobokan, the ironic nickname for Kerobokan Jail, Bali's most notorious prison, which has been home to a procession of the infamous and tragic, true criminals you will have heard of: the Bali Bombers, Gold Coast beautician Schapelle Corby and the Bali Nine, among many others.
Backed up by hundreds of true life prisoner interviews, the truth about Hotel Kerobokan explodes off the page. In these filthy and disease-ridden cells, a United Nations of prisoners live crushed together in misery. Criminal gangs, petty thieves and small-time drug users share cells with killers and rapists. Hardened drug traffickers sleep alongside unlucky tourists, who've seen their holiday turn from paradise to hell over one ecstasy tablet.
Hotel Kerobokan reveals the true life wild 'sex nights' organised by corrupt guards for prisoners who have the money to pay, the rampant drug use, the suicides and killings, and days out at the beach. It exposes the jail's role in supplying high-grade drugs to the outside, the criminal gang that rules the jail through terror, the corruption that means anything is for sale, and the squalor and misery endured by prisoners.
From the internationally bestselling author of Snowing in Bali and Operation Playboy and co-author of Schapelle Corby's autobiography, this is the shocking, true life inside story of Bali's most notorious jail.
Perfect for fans of true crime stories and authors like Rusty Young, James Phelps, Chopper Read and Underbelly.

Cold reality check
As I sit in the comfort of my home, my lounge or by the pool I can not start to imagine the horror and disbelieve of how real the life of these inmates must be.As I sit in the comfort of my home, my lounge or by the pool reading this book, I can not start to imagine the horror and disbelieve of how real the life of these inmates must be.
Some will say "do the crime, do the time" though in a country where corruption is so rife what hope has the average person got to be treated in any form of fairness?
In a country that invites visitors and portrays its self as a beautiful place, it's shows no beauty in the way it treats it's incarcerated minority, with filth, brutality, triple standards and no human rights, this story should sound a very very big message to anyone who is thinking (or clearly not thinking) of having anything to do with crime, and especially drugs in Indonesia, but more so Bali.
A stark reminder of how the power of drugs can and will so quickly rip any glimmer of hope and normality from you without the slittiest of a care for your health, welfare and that of your loved ones for a very long time.
This book should be read by anyone and everyone who knows some one, who is planning or has travelled to such place as Bali that hell does exists and it's known as "Hotel Kerokoban"
Thank you for such a truly great read.

hellhole
There were riots earlier this year in Hotel Kerobokan where prisoners locked out the guards and torched the jail-. scary place. still, the beams of the visit hall are charcoal and the watch towers are all broken. just read the local press: jakarta post - and google riots.
