Sunday Times bestselling author's brand new thriller about one woman's quest to reclaim her life
What turns someone into a monster? Are they born that way, or is it a choice? I suppose it can be either or both
Morgan Albright dreams of owning her own bar one day but she's bartending for now - working hard, saving money. Life is hectic but she loves sharing a house with her best friend, Nina, and she is even finding time to date for the first time in what feels like forever.
When a seemingly random attack turns Morgan's life upside down, she must leave the city to return to her family home. She hopes that moving back to a small town where she can feel safe will help her to put the horror of that day behind her but, as Morgan soon discovers, sometimes your past just doesn't want to let you go...
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Bestseller Roberts (Nightwork) gives readers another strong protagonist to root for in this otherwise rote standalone thriller. After a peripatetic childhood, 25-year-old Morgan Albright has finally made a home for herself in a quiet suburb of Baltimore. To help with her mortgage, she takes in her friend Nina Ramos as a housemate. Shortly after Morgan begins dating a charming patron at the bar where she works, she returns home one day to find Nina's battered, lifeless body. Over the following weeks, Morgan discovers that her boyfriend is actually a serial killer and identity thief—and that she, not Nina, was his intended target. On the advice of the FBI, Morgan flees to the home of her mother and grandmother in Westridge, Vt., to begin her life anew. But can she, with a killer on her trail? Roberts switches between Morgan's point of view and those of the killer and his FBI pursuers to successful enough effect, but there's a whole lot of narrative bloat in the form of inconsequential dialogue and plot repetition. Roberts devotees will fall in love with Morgan, but this is unlikely to become a fan favorite.

Great read
Awesome read that had me
not wanting to put it down
Enthralling read!
Once again Nora has captivated me and held me prisoner until the last word was read, brilliant writer!
Boring
I couldn’t read this frivolous rubbish. I don’t care about a woman’s makeup, clothes and hair. How is it relevant? It droned on and on and waiting for something interesting to happen became a trial. Even when I skipped the more boring parts it still was mind numbing. Awful.
