Connell and Marianne grow up in the same small town in the west of Ireland, but the similarities end there. In school, Connell is popular and well-liked, while Marianne is a loner. But when the two strike up a conversation - awkward but electrifying - something life-changing begins.

Normal People is a story of mutual fascination, friendship and love. It takes us from that first conversation to the years beyond, in the company of two people who try to stay apart but find they can't.

Good read

Wanted to know how it would end but the ending would have liked them to have made a firm commitment such as get married.

Other people

I really enjoyed the TV show and how real the relationship was especially the part about how lack of communication can break up the relationship. I read the book after watching the show as I couldn’t get enough. I enjoyed it as it had more details that weren’t shown in the show but referred to. I think reading the book after watching the show is better as the going back in time parts of the book could be hard to grasp mid way through a chapter.
The only thing I would change is 1) the name- I would call it: Other people, as they always mention “it’s not like this with other people” so that had more meaning to me. 2) having “quotation” marks when someone is saying something as it can get missed.

I loved it, read it in 24 hours! The end doesn’t really leave you anywhere, but that’s what makes it so good. It’s like in real life, you never know what will happen when you break up with someone!

AWESOME APPP 👌👌👌👌👌👌 ,

Best book

This book was so good and so hard to put down the only thing that is a let down is the ending other than that it was amazing. It portayed a real resemblance of a teenage relationship progressing into an adult relationship and it was beautifully written.
