Perdue is Coming Back As Facilitator for the Name (Globus (09.06.2009)‪)‬

Euro-Commissioner Jacques Barrot apologized in less than 24 hours for naming our country Northern Macedonia instead of FYROM. In the Macedonian Foreign Ministry there are still going on debates on whether and how to react to the controversial error of the experienced European diplomat when his spokesman Michelle Cherchone recommended us not to get excited because the European Commission is still supporting our internationally recognized name. There was a thesis in the media that Barrot's error might be a signal from Brussels for the road that we have to catch in order to get into their company. Professor Denko Maleski evaluated this as a "message to the politicians to think seriously about the problem with the name in order to prevent the country from entering into a situation in which somebody from abroad will rename it".
