Publisher Description
Occupational Stress Occupational stress has been defined as the non-specific response of the body to any demands made upon it (Selye 1976). According to Cooper et al. (1994), it is a negatively perceived quality which stems from inadequate coping with sources of stress and which results in negative consequences in terms of mental as well as physical health. Stress is considered to be an internal state or reaction to anything consciously or unconsciously perceived as a threat, whether real or imagined (Clarke & Watson 1991).
