SOMEONE NEW IS PLAYING GOD
The Frankenstein story updated to the 21st century by the great American storyteller Dean Koontz.
Created centuries ago by a madman, possessed of seemingly supernatural powers and a dogged drive for justice, the mysterious Deucalion arrives in New Orleans as the next generation of Dr Frankenstein's monsters are about to be unleashed by their deranged maker, now known as Victor Helios.
Deucalion's path will cross with that of tough police detective Carson O'Connor and her partner, Michael Maddison, who are on the trail of a vicious serial killer stalking the city, a killer who selects his victims for the humanity that is missing in himself.
Reluctantly, Carson will join forces with Deucalion against a far greater, terrifying threat: an entire race of killers who are much more – and less – than human …
Deucalion seeks one final confrontation with the evil genius who created him, Dr Frankenstein.
Dean Koontz, the master storyteller, creates a bold new legend.

Frankenstein 1
Loved it. Can't wait to read the whole series!!
Hmmm.....
Very disappointed Mr Koontz, the story has an unsatisfactory ending, unashamedly leading onto a sequel but without enough climax to make me want to seek it out. Readers should go back to DK's earlier novels and just remember how good he used to be. Sorry, but I feel like my money has been taken under false pretence.
Feel very ripped off
This is not a a complete story. It does not have any ending. This is the first of 4 books with presumably unannounced further books in the series. I generally enjoy book series (eg Odd Thomas), but book 1, 2 and most annoyingly book 4(lost souls) do not have endings. I was most upset when I got to the end of book 4, particularly with there being no 5, to discover no ending at all.
With the "Odd" books the story was complete in every book (with a hint of more). In this series particularly no 4, there is no conclusion at all. You are left with a totally incomplete story with the realization that you will have to buy another one or two books to get to the end. I am very angry. In my view it is a cynical attempt to extort more money from his readers.
I believe that I have been conned and defrauded.
I had come to expect a lot more from the author. I will never buy another of his books.
