INTRODUCTION Investigations by FAO/WHO have revealed that infant mortality in developing countries, including Nigeria, is as a result of protein deficiency [1]. A possible solution that quickly comes to mind is the exploration of all means for producing cheap and adequate quantity of animal protein at affordable price. Fish has been shown to be the cheapest source of animal protein in Third World Countries [2, 3].
