Sichuan Province, “Chuan”or “Shu” for short, is located in the upstream reach of Yangtze River in Southwest China. Its name Sichuan was shortened from the “Chuan Shan Si Lu” in Song Dynasty. The province governs a total area of more than 490,000 km2, and the population is 83.29 million, administrating 21 cities or prefectures such as Chengdu (also its capital), Zigong, Panzhihua, Luzhou, Deyang, Mianyang, Guangyuan, Suining, Neijiang, Ziyang, Leshan, Meishan, Nanchong, Yibin, Guang'an, Dazhou, Bazhong and Ya'an, Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture.
