EXCITING READ
What a cracker of a story by Ms. Golden. I found myself wholly invested in this tale featuring murder, revenge, danger, romance, and mayhem. If you love a good romance filled with action, this book is for you.
The theme that threads through this book is revenge. April left a trail of mystery after making an appearance in book two of this series. She just disappeared into thin air, leaving Police Detective Nathanial Murphy scratching his head until a chance sighting seven months later brought April back into his life. April was smart, sassy, and determined to find the person responsible for her
father's death. She was filled with despair and pain, leaving her vulnerable to danger. April was a loose cannon good at hiding in plain sight until she came to the attention of Nat and the FBI. April was running on pure adrenaline, teetering on the edge of fear.
Nat was determined to stop April’s dangerous behavior but not before he punished her for leaving him in the first place. She was a hot mess, but she was his hot mess to protect. His protective instincts to nurture April was to be admired. He was determined to have the one woman who touched his soul. I admired how Nat supported April’s quest but was always there to reel
her into safety when danger was near. He knew when to let her take the lead while still maintaining control.
This was a well-crafted story with pitfalls and peaks. This book was more intense than the other books in this series. The storyline was exciting, and the characters were likable. There was just the right amount of discipline to make things interesting.
