Publisher Description
They called me an amplifier. And they had bred me, raised me, and trained me to be a killer with preternatural precision. I was capable of taking, holding, and transferring power that wasn’t my own with a simple touch. Skin-to-skin contact. Along with four others of my generation, I could infiltrate any magical organization, extracting whoever or whatever I’d been ordered to extricate. Then I could destroy all evidence of our passing presence.
They had made me. They directed me. Controlled me.
Then they tried to kill me.

Free iBook. Excellent paranormal. Interesting characters. The Five have been genetically developed and raised from babies in a secluded laboratory environment to become a top magical SWAT squad to carry out murder and other illegal activities for The Convention. They don’t even have names. After they survived a suicide mission against all odds, they have to break out of their prison compound. This short story included a second short story on Amp5 (now Emma) and Cla5 (now Christopher) and their demon dog trying to make a new life on the outskirts of a small Canadian town. They help find a local missing woman, and become more accepted by their community.
This is an interesting and very compelling start to a series.
The story revolves around 5 young people with very powerful capabilities including clairvoyance, telepathy, telekinesis, nullification and amplification of magic. The amplifier is the designated leader. They were created in a lab, trained and confined until they needed to be used. Their creators are powerful members of the magical community. When the amplifier decides to risk her life to save her support team, she and the others are seen as expendable and they now have to fight their way to freedom. This is a different take on witches, sorcerers etc. and the story is very compelling.
