An easy and light read
A fun, easy and light read. Tackles issues on cultural identity, immigration and of course, class but it never feels too heavy handed.
It does not feel like a period piece, however. Both the dialogue and the events which occur feel very modern and aside from the duke story line and some events regarding transport, it really feels and read more like a story set in modern time. The characters are endearing and the plot simple but an enjoyable read nonetheless. I recommend this for someone who just needs something light and quick but charming.
The two epilogues and the sample of Milan’s next book surprised me because I thought there was more to it but alas, no.
Note: This is the first book by this author I have ever read and in general I don’t read much romance. I was brought here by Lindsay Ellis and her coverage of... certain events. Glad I did drop by though! It’s nice to experience something outside of your usual tastes!
