Russian counterintelligence chief Colonel Dominika Egorova has been an asset of the CIA for over seven years.
She has also been in a forbidden and tumultuous love affair with her handler Nate Nash, mortally dangerous for them both.
In Washington, a new administration is selecting its cabinet members, where Dominika hears whispers of a Russian operation to place a mole in a high intelligence position.
If the candidate is confirmed, the Kremlin will have access to the identities of CIA assets in Moscow.
Including Dominika.
Dominika recklessly immerses herself into searching for the mole's identity - before her time runs out . . .
With a plot ripped from tomorrow's headlines, The Kremlin's Candidate is a riveting read and a thrilling conclusion to the trilogy than began with Red Sparrow and Palace of Treason.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
The next CIA director could well be U.S. admiral Audrey Rowland, a mole working for the Russians, in bestseller Matthews's stellar conclusion to his Red Sparrow trilogy. If selected, Rowland would learn the identity of Diva, the code name for Gen. Dominika Egorova, a spy for the Americans who has caught Vladimir Putin's eye and is on track to head the SVR, Russia's foreign intelligence service. The action shifts among such exotic locales as Istanbul, Khartoum, Hong Kong, and Putin's compound on the Black Sea, where CIA agent Nate Nash goes undercover on a daring mission to prevent Dominika's exposure. Dominika and Nate's romance, which has been smoldering since they parted ways at the end of 2015's Palace of Treason, creates complications. Meanwhile, back in the States, the CIA operation planners must contend with hostile politicians seeking to end the dirty, underhanded methods the agency uses against the country's enemies. Matthews, a 33-year CIA veteran, provides a chilling portrait of the cold-blooded Putin, while saying almost nothing about the fictional current and previous U.S. presidents, in a suspenseful thriller that races to a heart-pounding and unexpected resolution. The March release of the film version of the first in the series, Red Sparrow, starring Jennifer Lawrence, is bound to give a boost.

Thrilling
The third book in the series was brilliant. Real life look into the world of spy’s even though it’s said to be fiction. I’d hate to have been on the receiving end of Jason Matthews cunning mind in real life. After reading all 3 books in the Sparrow series, felt totally satisfied I’d met the equal of Le Carre, for story telling
The Kremlin’s Candidate
I am so disappointed. I forgave the blatant sexism in Red Sparrow because the story was great.
The second in the series I got through.
But in this book the author lets his pervy old man fantasies run away with him and shows no real idea about a woman’s sexuality, just what he imagines, I expect from porn. Again, because he is so well versed in spy craft the story is sound but his portrayal of women’s sexuality is utterly on the nose. Yuk. I couldn’t finish it. Euphemisms for a woman’s vagina so unimaginatively crude and schoolboy I thought I was back in college.
I am a highly sexual woman and I’m here to tell you, guys, this dude has it all wrong.
One star. And that’s for the spy craft.
The kremlins candidate
Got to page 200 and have had enough . Bought the 3 books and the storylines are fantastic ,but have had enough of the pages and pages of padding and descriptions of everything . Very disappointing .
