We happily lost hours to this terrific novel, by a major Australian talent. Susan Johnson—the author of Flying Lessons and My Hundred Lovers—surveys the lives of several middle-age characters with stakes in a desirable beach community north of Brisbane. Johnson cares deeply for her characters, detailing their foibles, insecurities, desires and finest emotions with warmth and wit.
