The Trouble with Runaway Brides

I loved this book. I was enthralled from the first page. The chemistry between Lance and Kenzie is off the charts!

I seriously did not know what Kenzie saw in Will Asbury and why she was planning to marry him. In Lance’s words the guy is a douche.

The reader gets an insight that Lance and Kenzie have been in love with each other since they were fifteen years old. The flames have not extinguished despite Lance and Kenzie ignoring the signs that they are perfect for each other.

This book delves more into the close relationship between the triplets, Brinley, Lance and Easton. This amazing trio are cousins but are closer than siblings. They are there for each other through thick and thick - no matter what.

Brinley, Kenzie, Lance and Easton used to be the awesome foursome when they were in high school. A series of life experiences caused fissures in their relationships. Kenzie was on the outer until she returns to Lake Starlight to plan her wedding.

The pivotal moment in the book is the career day at Lake Starlight High where Kenzie admits despite her success with her podcast it is the life long connection and people who keep you grounded. This leads to a beautiful moment where Brinley and Kenzie talk it out, forgive each other and consume a few too many beverages. This leads to Kenzie, Easton and Lance talking it out and forgiving each other.

The moments in the book were I was cheering was when Lance finally tells Kenzie how much he loves her and sends her a white shawl for her almost wedding. Kenzie realises she cannot marry Will and she runs to tell Lance he is hers.

I need to give special mention to these minor characters who were hilarious and assisted in getting Lance and Kenzie back together. Mr and Mrs Gavino (Kenzie’s parents), Blake (Kenzie’s other best friend) and his boyfriend, Geoff, Van Adler(Brinley’s fiancée).

I loved this book and I recommend it to other readers!

I was so excited for Lance Whitmore and Kenzie Gavino’s story and I wasn’t disappointed because this book was everything I expected and so much more. If you love second chance romances set in small towns look no further than this entertaining and at times emotional read. Kenzie never thought she would be back in Lake Starlight but fate works in mysterious ways and she is back in town planning her wedding to Will who happens to be Lance’s nemesis and another twist of fate, it’s her childhood sweetheart Lance who has become her wedding planner……. What follows is an entertaining journey as Lance and Kenzie realise they still have feelings for each other. So can Kenzie get past the heartbreak she felt when Lance walked away and will Lance finally open up and let her know how he is feeling, you are going to need to one click to find that out. What I will tell you is this wouldn’t be a Piper Rayne Book without the towns gossip app picking up on a story and adding there option which only adds to the entertainment and enjoyment of this must read/listen. The narration team of Aiden Snow and Emily Woo Zeller did a fantastic job bringing the characters and their story to life. They hit every emotion and the banter flowed so naturally which meant they were perfect as Lance and Kenzie. Another great addition to this wonderful series.

The Trouble with Runaway Brides is a really enjoyable read! I was hooked on Lance Whitmore’s story. When they say don’t let the past get in the way of your future, little do they know what’s ahead…. So much frustration, great banter, family issues and characters that touch your heart as well as a runaway bride, what more could you want in a book? Goodness me, my heart was a bit of a mess. The drama was entertaining and I especially loved how the towns folk rallied around Lance, however when the actual truth comes out about what happened between him and Kenzie, lets just say things go in a different direction than you expect. I wholeheartedly loved this book. It is a fantastic addition to the Lake Starlight series and I cannot wait for more!
