War is only the beginning…
From #1 New York Times bestselling author Jennifer L. Armentrout comes book four in her Blood and Ash series.
From the desperation of golden crowns…
Casteel Da’Neer knows all too well that very few are as cunning or vicious as the Blood Queen, but no one, not even him, could’ve prepared for the staggering revelations. The magnitude of what the Blood Queen has done is almost unthinkable.
And born of mortal flesh…
Nothing will stop Poppy from freeing her King and destroying everything the Blood Crown stands for. With the strength of the Primal of Life’s guards behind her, and the support of the wolven, Poppy must convince the Atlantian generals to make war her way—because there can be no retreat this time. Not if she has any hope of building a future where both kingdoms can reside in peace.
A great primal power rises…
Together, Poppy and Casteel must embrace traditions old and new to safeguard those they hold dear—to protect those who cannot defend themselves. But war is only the beginning. Ancient primal powers have already stirred, revealing the horror of what began eons ago. To end what the Blood Queen has begun, Poppy might have to become what she has been prophesied to be—what she fears the most.
As the Harbinger of Death and Destruction.
APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
The fourth installment in Jennifer L. Armentrout’s red-hot Blood and Ash series will make your heart race in more ways than one. Poppy and Casteel have been through a lot. (We highly recommend starting this series from the beginning.) Ever since Cas offered to become the malicious Blood Queen’s prisoner in exchange for Poppy’s life, Poppy has made it her mission to destroy the evil woman’s throne. Armentrout blends fantasy and romance perfectly—we loved how the searing connection between these lovers burns bright even when they’re apart. We also enjoyed the book’s shifting points of view, especially since they finally gave us a first-person window into Casteel’s heart. If you like your complex fantasy world-building with a generous side of steamy sexiness, do not pass up The War of Two Queens.

War of two queens
Ugh. These books. This is one of those series that you simultaneously never want it to end but also you just want to get to the end of the story and find out what happens to everyone!
Love the mystery and adventure of the story and I’m trying to guess all the twists and turns along the way. The only thing that annoys me is the whole thread of doubt that Poppy might end up being bad… like come on. She’s definitely going to end up being good and we all know it. So let’s just stop pretending.
If you liked the first three then you’ll like this one. I feel like it’s been so long since I read the first books that I’ll need to go back and reread.
It is spicy but not really until the end half of the book.
Dual POV, mid-high level spice, 18+
Bit stop-start but beautiful!
I personally found it difficult to finish because there was so much info which was necessary. So other than the stop-start - beautiful!
Series went downhill
Was really not a fan of the previous book in this series but thought it was worth persevering as first two books were great. But it just gets too complicated to the point were I was so bored I skipped pages, which I never do usually. Undecided if I will try the prequel.
