Emmie Morgan woke up from heart transplant surgery, saw her best friend Brandon Tan sitting by her bedside, and promptly asked him to marry her. If there was a faster way to ruin a friendship, she didn’t know it.
One year on, Bran has returned home to open a restaurant and Emmie adds trying to make amends to her already chaotic life. She's also running her own music venue, battling survivor's guilt—oh, and secretly tending a wedding obsession sprung from her near-death experience.
Bran needs answers. But all Emmie has are problems. Hating that he couldn’t help her last time, he resolves to ease the trouble in her eyes. He sets aside their attraction and awkward past and tries to focus on being friends again.
If she would just stop trying on wedding dresses…
APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
Australian author Madeline Ash brings a relatable touch—and heaps of resounding laughs—to the modern romance story with the first book in her Morgan Sister Brides series. Best friends Emmie and Bran have been kept at arm’s length romantically by Emmie’s long-standing health issues, but when she receives a heart transplant at age 22, that key obstacle is suddenly absent. But when Emmie makes, then retracts, a morphine-influenced marriage proposal, it divides the two and sparks a delicately charming love story. Ash balances all the different elements just right, from properly lusty descriptions to the easy, spontaneous banter of old friends.

A complex and interesting love story played out in front of us…
The Wedding Obsession by Madeline Ash
Every now and then I read something waaay outside my usual genres, this was one of them. This book is a romance, a full blown romance, between Bran and his long term girl friend Emmie.
Emmie has a heart transplant, after which she develops the title’s wedding obsession. Bran and Emmie had been very close friends for years, and the story revolves around how they got separated from each other and the trials as they reconnect a year later, they are still very much I love, but there’s quite a few issues that need sorting out.
All the characters are easy to picture, the world is easy to imagine, the story plays out quite well, there are quite a few layers to the story, much more than the usual ‘read on a bus trip’ type. It isn’t long so I finished it in a day, which always bodes well :)
A really good read, 3/5
Key: bad 1/5, ok 2/5, good 3/5, great 4/5, unusually outstanding 5/5
Love it!
This book has everything you could want. Passion, drama, laughter, tears! You’ll be hooked from page one, deeply in love with Bran by page two, and so emotionally committed to Bran and Ellie that you won’t put it down until there are no more words. Complex, thoughtful, heart(spoiler)-breaking and heart(spoiler)-mending. Read it. Seriously.
