Publisher Description
Your body is horizontal. The lights are off. By every external measure, the working day ended six hours ago. And yet, behind your eyes, the office is still fully staffed and running a night shift.
When You Cannot Switch Off is a warm, psychologically informed guide to rumination, Work-Brain, and the Overstimulated Mind, and the Switch-Off Method for Quiet Evenings and Real Rest. Elia Sal brings together accessible research, compassionate insight, realistic examples, and reflective exercises so readers can recognise what is happening beneath the surface rather than blaming themselves. The Switch-Off Method turns that understanding into a practical route forward.
With practical tools, Between Sessions exercises, words to practise, chapter takeaways, and a grounded final path forward, this book is designed to be read slowly, returned to often, and used in real life.
Customer Reviews
A must read !
When You Cannot Switch Off is a beautifully written and surprisingly relatable book for anyone who struggles to truly switch off at the end of the day.
What I really appreciated is that it doesn’t simply tell you to “stop thinking” or “relax.” Instead, it explores what is actually happening when your body is exhausted but your mind is still running at full speed. The discussion around rumination, “Work-Brain” and an overstimulated mind felt particularly relevant and made me feel understood rather than judged.
