This Penguin Classic is performed by Luke Thompson, best known for his role in the hit Netflix drama Bridgerton. This definitive recording includes an introduction by David McDuff.
A deep, complex examination of the crucial philosophical questions of human existence, from one of the world's most renowned novelists
'The mystery of human existence lies not in staying alive, but in finding something to live for'
The murder of brutal landowner Fyodor Karamazov changes the lives of his sons irrevocably: Mitya, the sensualist, whose bitter rivalry with his father immediately places him under suspicion for parricide; Ivan, the intellectual, driven to breakdown; the spiritual Alyosha, who tries to heal the family's rifts; and the shadowy figure of their bastard half-brother, Smerdyakov. Dostoyevsky's dark masterwork evokes a world where the lines between innocence and corruption, good and evil, blur, and everyone's faith in humanity is tested.

Excellent narrator
I went through several different versions of this book until I found a narrator that spoke clearly and pleasantly. By far worth the $ over all the others I tried.
Historically important, yet
I can’t say I would recommend this book to others. But I’m glad I read it because of his place in history. I must commend the reader who did a fantastic job, using different voices for different characters; it was as if I was listening to a radio play.
Best Novel Ever Written
It took me six attempts to get through the novel on paper. I never quite succeeded because I got lost in the Russian names (don’t laugh or judge). So, I decided to buy the audiobook, and this performance was magnificent. More than that, the novel is deeply moving on many levels. Dostoevsky is a master of anthropology, psychology, philosophy, and theology. His depth of knowledge on each front is striking given his ability to portray the complexities and intricacies of humanity. But his understanding of the love of God is what truly amazes me. If you want to know the meaning of love and grace and what walking with God is supposed to be like — without referring to the Bible or theological treatises — then pickup this “modern” tale. It is more than well-worth the effort. It should be essential reading for all Christians and anyone who wants to know God’s disposition to humanity in the face of Christ, our freedom, and the evil and suffering that we all experience (and cause) in varying measure.
