Preston Aka Duke of Grandhampton and Penelope a daughter of a Baron make quite a pair!
Preston has several secrets and keeps them as a form of revenge at first against Penelope’s father!
Preston has several ideas about Penelope as a flirt and that she is not quite the innocent portrayed.
Penelope to me is very obtuse about her father and the kind of man he really is! She should have judged him by the company he keeps!
There are several things women in this era were kept in the dark about!
There is scorching hot chemistry between them almost immediately!
Preston really is Penelope’s hero did she but know it!
As the truth unfolds Preston must choose between revenge and love! It seems Preston chose revenge and there is was no hope for their future!
Penelope father didn’t do one ugly deed but several! The last one where innocent people including Penelope could have lost their lives!
This story was very long and as soon as you gained hope and a resolution the story to a turn!
This is an emotional rollercoaster that still leaves you in suspense of another tragic mystery to solve! Bravo!

4 Stars! Cute enemies to lovers historical regency romance with a HEA ending. This is the first book in the new ‘Dukes & Secrets’ series and can be read as a standalone. The main characters are Miss.Penelope Beckett & Preston Seaton, Duke of Grandhampton. I liked both main characters and was with Preston on ruining Penelope’s father, who had hired men to rough up Preston’s older brother who died from his injuries. I think Penelope was too loyal to a father undeserving of such loyalty. It’s ridiculous to think of all the things Penelope’s father did and still have her being loyal to him. I really loved the surprises at the end! They have made me super excited to read the next book in the series and find out what happens!

Duke and trouble
This the story of Penelope, an low ranking in the ton artist to be looking forward to being a spinster and Preston, a Duke with an evil plan. These two end up married via Preston's scheme to get even but things do not go quite as planned. Even thought it has the simple regency plot, the story itself was fun and steamy and a bit crazy as these two end up in a marriage that will break them or give them a worthy love. Great characters, intense and funny scenes, and a wild crazy time to be a Duke and Duchess. Easy to envision what was going on and what these two saw and dealt with. Was rooting for the both of them to figure things out. And had to watch this crazy journey and see how it would all end.
