Entertaining!
In this installment of the Aurora (Roe) Teagarden series we have Roe expecting her first child, she's getting to know her half brother Phillip and just enjoying her new marriage with Robin. But things are about to be shaken up for Roe once again when Phillip ends up missing. Police are called and find that more teens are missing and then a dead body is found.
I'm really bad about jumping into the middle of a series and I have not read previous books... yet. I read this authors Sookie Stackhouse books years ago and really enjoyed them so I wanted to see if this was anther series I could get into. I'm actually surprised with how different they are from each other. Despite not having the excitement of paranormal characters, this was a fun read. I really enjoyed the thought process Roe had in trying to uncover her brothers whereabouts. I also wasn't lost since I haven't read the previous books. The author did a good job of providing enough details to keep you up to date on the characters.
Overall, I really liked this book and will read more in the series. ARC provided by NetGalley.
I love the Aurora Teagarden Series
I love the Aurora Teagarden series and have really enjoyed reading the books as much as I enjoyed watching the movies. However it seems like the gap between when the books were written also caused some of the original plot lines to change. Aurora went from being independently wealthy after inheriting money from Jane and then Martin but then she was suddenly an average middle class individual watching her budget even though she had just married a best selling author. Also her mother went from being real estate mogul to being successful without reference to her money which was a big focus in previous books in the series. Then at the end of this book John”s kids were coming home for Christmas even though is the previous book and earlier in this one they lived in Lawrenceton. Maybe it’s because I binge read the series that the events and chronology seems off.
a mystery that you can really sink your teeth into
Aurora is happily pregnant, living content with her new husband and her ½ brother Phillip, when suddenly her world is torn apart when Phillip and three other kids disappear. Of course, Phillip being a new comer to town and a runaway, is blamed for their untimely disappearance. Now Aurora must pull out all the stop to uncover the mystery behind the missing kids before it’s too late.
Harris writes a tale that uncovers bullying and hate crimes all within the heart of Aurora’s home town. This puts a deep strain on Robin and Aurora’s new marriage but when Aurora’s father arrives pointing fingers it makes Aurora dig deep to find the strength to push on to what’s important…the missing children.
Another fabulously penned mystery by Charlaine Harris, All the Little Liars faces the terrible social situations of today while providing a mystery that you can really sink your teeth into.
Although this is a series, All the Little Liars was my first read in this series but won't be my last with plans to back read the rest. I found it quick and easy to follow and didn't feel like I was trying to play catch up or lost by missing previous books.
I received this ARC copy of All the Little Liars from St. Martin's Press - Minotaur Books in exchange for a honest review.
