Publisher Description
From the bestselling author of A Dirty Job, this “deft and funny” (The New York Times Book Review) first book of the Bloodsucking Fiends series is a vampire romance like none other following a recently turned vampire and the small-town midwesterner who becomes her unlikely ally in the search to find a blood-draining killer.
Jody never asked to become a vampire. But when she wakes up in an alley with a badly burned arm, an aching back, superhuman strength, and a distinctly Nosferatuan thirst, she realizes the decision has been made for her. What she doesn’t realize is that this is only the beginning.
Tommy has just arrived in San Francisco, full of dreams of becoming the next literary wunderkind. Instead he ends up working at the local Safeway and playing frozen turkey bowling with the motley night crew. But one night Tommy meets the strikingly beautiful Jody on one of her nocturnal visits to the supermarket and gets the surprise of his life when the casual date they make to meet the next night (after sunset, of course) triggers the start of a relationship destined to span eternity.
All seems to be going well—until the blood-drained bodies begin piling up around the city. Now it’s up to Jody and Tommy to find the perpetrator behind the attacks before one of them becomes the next victim.

I loved this book!
Very funny stuff, the first in a trilogy. I read this a number of years ago, this is Moore at his best.
As good as Christopher Moore gets.
Which is pretty good. When I was reading Even Cowgirls Get the Blues people would come out of nowhere to tell me what a wonderful book that was and how much they enjoyed it. Well, Bloodsucking Fiends is to me what they were talking about. I find myself telling people to read it; however I won’t loan it out cause I know it’d never come back. Many reviewers describe the plot, characters, main scenes. I don’t want to spoil any of that for you. Buy it and enjoy.

Jody, a young girl with her whole life ahead of her, has suddenly and without warning, become a vampire. While she goes through her transition with no help from any other vampires, she learns by making mistakes and getting into trouble.
She needs someone to help her do her daytime work, and C. Thomas Flood just falls into her lap a if he was destined to be with her. Tommy may not be the most sensible young man, but he does what he can with what he has to please Jody and accommodate her in any way she wants.
This book has everything you'd ever need in a book, paranormal, intrigue, mystery, humor, thrill, and excitement. I wish I could praise this book more than I already have, I just absolutely love it! Definitely a 6/5.
This is unlike any other vampire book out there. It's funny, witty, and Christopher Moore has an amazing dry sense of humor. I have loved every single one of his books, and this one was no exception. I follow Christopher Moore and look forward to all his upcoming books. He's very talented. I find myself reading his books over and over, and they never get old.
