Publisher Description

An absolute delight of a madcap story for the young (and young-at-heart) by New York Times bestselling author Neil Gaiman, with equal parts pirates and piranhas, adventure and aliens, oddity and love. "I bought the milk," said my father. "I walked out of the corner shop, and heard a noise like this: t h u m m t h u m m. I looked up and saw a huge silver disc hovering in the air above Marshall Road."

"Hullo," I said to myself. "That's not something you see every day. And then something odd happened."

Find out just how odd things get in this hilarious story of time travel and breakfast cereal, expertly told by Newbery Medalist and bestselling author Neil Gaiman and illustrated by Skottie Young.

bunnycatluvscake ,

I read it a ton of times.

I really love the book “Fortunately The Milk” If you haven’t read it yet I would recommend reading it. It is one of my favorite books. There is just so many cool creatures (aliens, pirates, piranhas, a dinosaur, some weird jungle people, a volcano god named Splod, a pony, wumpires, dwarfs with purple skin and flowerpots on their heads.) The plot of the story is pretty much, the dad goes to the store to buy milk and almost loses the milk a thousand times while he encounters cool creatures (listed above) and he tell his kids the whole story and they don’t believe him so he shows then the milk and on the bottom of the milk is a Spanish dubloon from his pirate encounter. It is a good bedtime story I read it to my sister and she loved it.

Great Bedtime Story

When your 11-year-old is disappointed the story is over after having spent three years being "too old" for bedtime stories and more interested in reading Tolkien you know you have a great book in your library.

Every time I read Fortunately, the Milk all four of my children are completely enraptured. Thank you for such a treasure, Neil.
