Publisher Description
When Hiro returns to the imperial capital, Chris has a lot of questions. In fact, she's set on grilling him--less about his mercenary adventures, and more about Colonel Serena. If Serena herself gets wind of Chris's prying, there's no way she'll let Hiro smooth things over. In fact, the prim and proper colonel will probably blow a gasket.
But Hiro will need to deal with something that poses a much greater threat than Chris's pointed questions: an assassin who's found their chance to strike. The situation has gone from awkward to deadly--and Hiro will have to fight tooth and nail to leave the capital in one piece!

Not the Best Entry in the Series
What I liked about this entry. The politics and attitudes in the capital were fun as always. Hiro’s total lack of self awareness on why people are becoming very afraid of him. The hint that perhaps Mei is more than she appears and the fact that almost everyone realizes that except Hiro. The Fact that Serena and her crew thought it was weird that Hiro always showed up where they were.
What I did not like. The constant adding of more and more women to the ship. Mimi and Elma were pretty much organically done there were real reasons for each one. Even the Mei the twins and the Doctor All serve a purpose onboard. Hiro had a reason to add each one to the crew. The Serena plot line from the previous book I thought was the weakest of the entire series but I enjoyed Hiro’s interactions with her family in this volume.
Chris on the other hand. Her whole arc in this story is just WTH. Hiro had previously always gone out of his way to make sure there was nothing between them but now they are in a serious relationship?. Sure Chris always had feelings for Hiro but did I totally miss where he was secretly wanting her the entire time?
