Blood Freak: The Brad F. Grinter Story

Hollywood had million-dollar budgets. Florida had cheap motels, alligator-infested swamps, and Brad F. Grinter.

When we talk about the sweat-stained trenches of 1960s and 70s DIY exploitation cinema, a familiar pantheon of renegades usually dominates the conversation. But hiding in the humid, mosquito-choked backlots of South Florida was a filmmaker whose sheer audacity rivals any of them.

Brad F. Grinter didn't just operate outside the Hollywood system—he operated in a completely different reality. As a director, writer, producer, and actor, he was the ultimate cinematic survivalist. Grinter built mutant turkeys, exploited nudist colonies, forced his acting students into horrific on-set situations, and convinced fallen Hollywood royalty like Veronica Lake to act alongside flesh-eating maggots. And he did it all on budgets that wouldn't cover a modern craft services table.

In this comprehensive biography and filmography, discover the unhinged, unbelievable true story of a forgotten grindhouse maverick. From his highly profitable "nudie-cutie" roots in the sun-drenched naturist colonies to the legendary, anti-drug monster-movie madness of Blood Freak, this book pulls back the curtain on the tight-knit, bizarre ecosystem of Florida's regional B-movie circuit.

Perfect for fans of cult cinema, outsider art, and the history of physical media, this book is a celebration of the raw, unbridled awesome of the drive-in hustle.
