Publisher Description

This video-augmented book explains how the natural movements of the sun, wind and rain can be used to improve the well-being of people in buildings and raise awareness of sustainable living practices. In demonstrating how buildings can be designed to reconcile their traditional role as shelter from the elements with the active inclusion of their movement, the book shows how, in the process of separating us from the extremes of the natural world, architecture can also be a means of reconnecting us with nature.

Architecturally Speaking ,

Naturally Beautiful

Bringing the weather indoor seems completely counter intuitive, but this book is a revelation. Don’t know how we live without this stuff now. Brilliant.

Snets27 ,

Fascinating!

What a wonderfully written description of the various ways in which buildings can play a key role in bridging the gap between the built and natural environment. The author, Kevin Nute, brings to light the invisible phenomenon we so often take for granted with wonderful examples and video demonstrations of how architecture can increase our perception of the natural forces around us. A definite must read for anyone with an interest in architecture and sustainability!

Strawberry Fire ,

Blurs the Line Between Inside and Out

As humans we spend the majority of our time indoors. Nute’s research uncovers techniques and methodologies which captures elements of the outside world and brings them into the built envorinment. A great book for anyone in the design field who looks to blur the lines between inside and out.
