A U.S. Marine's brush with death leads him to the love of his life in this New York Times bestseller of destiny, luck, and the redemptive power of romance.
After U.S. Marine Logan Thibault finds a photograph of a smiling young woman buried in the dirt during his tour of duty in Iraq, he experiences a sudden streak of luck -- winning poker games and even surviving deadly combat. Only his best friend, Victor, seems to have an explanation for his good fortune: the photograph -- his lucky charm.
Back home in Colorado, Thibault can't seem to get the woman in the photograph out of his mind and he sets out on a journey across the country to find her. But Thibault is caught off guard by the strong attraction he feels for the woman he encounters in North Carolina - Elizabeth, a divorced mother -- and he keeps the story of the photo, and his luck, a secret. As he and Elizabeth embark upon a passionate love affair, his secret soon threatens to tear them apart -- destroying not only their love, but also their lives.
Filled with tender romance and terrific suspense, THE LUCKY ONE is an unforgettable story about the surprising paths our lives often take and the power of fate to guide us to true and everlasting love.
APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
When Iraq War vet Logan Thibault appears in the riverside town of Hampton, N.C., he brings along little more than a complicated past and a fiercely loyal German Shepherd. As Thibault settles into small-town life, he piques the interest of Beth—a young, divorced teacher—and raises the ire of her ex-husband, a cop with deep local roots and a chip on his shoulder. Everyone has questions for Thibault. Why did he come to Hampton, of all places? What is he running from—or to? Sparks' fans will find much to love here, including his signature romantic fireworks, a range of sympathetic characters, and a nuanced depiction of friendships forged in the heat of battle.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
U.S. Marine Logan Thibault carries a picture of a woman he's never met because it brings him good luck. But when he sets out to find the woman, he is met with unexpected circumstances surrounding his new love and his shrouded past. Though not Sparks's most original tale, the story flows well and narrator John Bedford Lloyd delivers a solid performance. Lloyd's deep bass tone is perfectly suited for Thibault, a manly man if ever there was one. Lloyd's supporting characters are rich and interesting in their own right, some speaking in comical Southern drawls, others with a raw reality. The final result is quite touching without much over-the-top sentimentality on Lloyd's part. A Grand Central hardcover.

Amazing
Nicholas sparks is one of the most gifted authors of our time. He tells his stories in a way that make you want to know more.
Love Nick Sparks but
His books are all starting to be formulaic and predictable. I love the older books like TheGuardian or A Bend in theRoad. This one just felt like it was written to be a screenplay.
Loved it!
Great book :)
