From a USA TODAY bestselling author with more than three million copies in print, CJ Carmichael is a master of emotional and heartwarming romance with small town charm.
She’s not willing to forgive. He’s unable to forget.
One year ago, Montana cowboy Dylan McLean left the love of his life at the altar and fled town, thinking he was doing the right thing by saving her from a scandal. He’s found success on the rodeo circuit, but his love for Cathleen never faded. Now he’s returned home to clear his name, claim his bride and rebuild his legacy.
Bed-and-breakfast owner Cathleen Shannon has moved on from her broken heart. That is, until Dylan shows up at her house one night asking for help and a second chance. Despite Dylan’s betrayal, she promises to assist with his investigation. She doesn’t want an innocent man to go to jail, but her heart is most definitely off limits.
But Cathleen has forgotten one important fact: Dylan is relentless when he’s going after something he wants. He walked away once, but she won’t let that happen again.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Carmichael (More than a Feeling) launches her Shannon Sisters series with this light and sweet second-chance romance. A year ago, cowboy Dylan McLean was the lead suspect in a murder case and jilted his fianc e, Cathleen Shannon, on their wedding day to avoid dragging her into the scandal. So he knows not to expect a warm welcome upon returning home to Whitefish, Mont., after months away on the rodeo circuit. He's correct: no one in town is happy to see Dylan least of all Cathleen's protective sisters. Cathleen is also far from forgiving him and, in the midst of opening a B&B, she has no time to deal with him no matter how much her heart still responds to the sight of him. But when Cathleen learns that Dylan's stepfather, now the mayor of Whitefish, is abusing Dylan's mom, she and Dylan join forces to topple the mayor off his pedestal. They make a formidable team, and though Carmichael focuses more on the intrigue surrounding the McLean family than on the couple rebuilding their lost love, she still manages to make their reconciliation believable through frank examinations of their feelings. This emotional story gets the series off to a strong start.

Loved it
Great story, loved it. I enjoyed the push pull between Dylan & Catherine, their history is sweet but sad after Dylan left town on their wedding day. We get to see the past revisited as Dylan looks to clear his name & win Catherine back, because he never stopped loving her the entire year he was gone. Catherine has started over with her Bed & Breakfast about to open, she's gotten back into the dating world even though no one holds a candle to Dylan. Now trouble has come calling again as someone tries to frame Dylan for the attempted murder of his own mother. We watch as Dylan & Catherine struggle with their feelings all the while trying to keep Dylan out of jail & find out who the real killer is, even though they already have an idea. I enjoyed watching the relationship between Dylan & Catherine reignite & burn up the pages. I also loved how author C. J. Carmichael took it right down to the last page with the will she or won't she show up. I'm definitely looking forward to reading the next installments in The Shannon Sisters series. Thank you to Tule publishing for allowing me to voluntarily read this book for an honest review. Definitely recommend.
