Written by Seo Jeong-oh
Seo Jeong-oh was born in 1955 in Andong, Gyeongsangbuk-do. He studied at Andong Education College and Daegu Education College. After graduation, he worked as an elementary school teacher. He stopped teaching not long ago and is writing stories now. Seo is especially dedicated to rewriting old Korean stories to make them known to children today. The books that he has written and published are A Storeroom in the Underworld, A Donkey Wrapped in Paper, A Wrapping Cloth from the Tiger, 100 Old Korean Stories that We Should Know, Korean Myths that We Should Know, Telling Old Stories, and etc.
Illustrated by Kim Eun-jung
Kim Eun-jung, born in Daegu in 1974, studied drawing by herself. After majoring in Illustration, she also studied illustration for children’s books at Kkoktu Illustration Center. Kim hopes her works remind her readers of their childhood and at the same time, she pursues a creative world of art which is easy for children to understand and enjoy. She has illustrated books like A Wrapping Cloth from the Tiger, The Maiden without Hands, and so on.
Translated by Charlie Chung
Chung is a translator of children’s literature. She studied translation at Ewha Womans University GSTI and worked for a publishing agency introducing Korean children’s books around the world. She has translated many Korean children’s books into English and been in a doctoral program in translation studies.
