Publisher Description

The highly anticipated start of the “masterful” (New York Journal of Books) romantic suspense series from the beloved nationally bestselling author of Ten Tiny Breaths.

Left for dead in the fields of rural Oregon, a young woman defies all odds and survives—but she awakens with no idea who she is, or what happened to her. Refusing to answer to “Jane Doe” for another day, the woman renames herself “Water” for the tiny, hidden marking on her body—the only clue to her past. Taken in by old Ginny Fitzgerald, a crotchety but kind lady living on a nearby horse farm, Water slowly begins building a new life. But as she attempts to piece together the fleeting slivers of her memory, more questions emerge: Who is the next-door neighbor, quietly toiling under the hood of his Barracuda? Why won’t Ginny let him step foot on her property? And why does Water feel she recognizes him?

Twenty-four-year-old Jesse Welles doesn’t know how long it will be before Water gets her memory back. For her sake, Jesse hopes the answer is never. He knows that she’ll stay so much safer—and happier—that way. And that’s why, as hard as it is, he needs to keep his distance. Because getting too close could flood her with realities better left buried.

The trouble is, water always seems to find its way to the surface.

AMAZING

I finished this book a few days ago, and have been thinking about what I was going to write for my review. Even at this point, I don't know that I will be able to really get across just how much I LOVED this book.
I am a HUGE fan of K.A. Tucker's, I was so happy to be introduced to her books at a book signing of three other authors over a year ago, since then I have read the entire TTB series, and now Burying Water.
I knew the general idea of this book, but hadn't even read the description, I felt like I didn't really need to as I knew if it's written by K.A Tucker, then it's going to be amazing. And as always I wasn't disappointed.
I was hooked after just reading the prologue, I mean how is it possible that an author can hock you after 4 pages....4 PAGES! But K.A. does. You're curious as to how this girl came to being dumped on the side of the road in an abandoned area and the guy who is trying to save her. We then meet Jane Doe in the hospital after she wakes up from something that no one should walk up from. I love that this story jumps from now to then and from her to his point of view, it really gives the story a well rounded feel. I found this to be a story of hope rather then despair. It's a great example of the mind's ability to overcome trauma and that the heart sometimes knows better then the mind.
As we see Water come into her own and start her new life in the little small town of Sisters we really get to see how her draw to Jesse is something she can't help or stop. I love the connection she builds with all members of her community, from Ginny to Dakota and of course the good Doctor, her Sheriff husband and nurse daughter and of course the mechanic son (Jesse), she truly embarrasses the idea of her new life. Even if she doesn't realize it. As her memory comes back in snippets she knows there is a reason she is in Sisters and a pull to Jesse she just doesn't know why.
"Something tells me Jesse is the kind of guy that I can always count on. My gut must be telling me that I had someone just like him in my previous life. Someone I trusted"
The only minor thing I wish was included was more detail on why or how she ended up abandoned, but I am torn about this as well, I am happy she never remembered that, because no one should remember something that brutal. I am holding out hope that maybe we will get a little more info into that with Becoming Rain.
As always, an AMAZING read by K.A.Tucker and I can't wait for anything that is next...and I am even thinking about reading her Casual Encounter series, even though I am not a fan of paranormal at all....i just figure if I am going to like any paranormal series it would be K.A.Tuckers!
