Publisher Description
Time doesn’t always heal a broken heart. Sometimes the only thing it does is fill the darkness with more shadows, more pain.
Dylan Thomas has spent the past decade living in the shadows, mourning the loss of his wife, his best friend, his very reason for breathing. He long ago accepted that he would never feel again, that he was damned to a world without light, without hope. That was the day the bottle won, and he gave himself over to the darkness.
Until the one night that rocked his brittle, crumbling world on its axis. She told him what they shared was simply a distraction, a way to forget for a little while. It would’ve been, except the tiny glimpse of how it feels to live again, to feel again, gives him the strength he needs to pull himself up by his boot straps. But sobriety comes one day at a time, and three years later may be three years too late.

Distraction
Distraction makes the heart grow fonder! I am sorry to say I loved it because it is bittersweet in many ways. First, because I was initiated into this genre by Nicole's Club Destiny and I have never turned back. Nor do I miss a book in any series she writes. Not one. Second, Nicole this is not just a series it is a revelation. It started back with Conviction ( my first read) and now has brought into the forefront so many things that are taboo, really. Including depression. Not to be talked about, a disease you cannot see which means many feel it does not exist. It does. Maybe that is why this book specifically speaks to me. Dylan is so broken and you show him hitting rock bottom where many of us with depression often sit. On the bottom. But mixing this with Sarah who led us into what was grief, anger and acceptance for her husbands suicide. These topics are huge Nicole and you wound them together in a respectful, honest way that upheld the positive belief that sometimes we can get past it but we never get "over it" cause it is always there... Oh right did I say topped off with panty-melting sex...cause that is what you deliver. Totally did not see the "twin" thing coming!! 😳 I do not doubt that you took 3 years with this baby cause it would be like looking in a mirror everyday. It is so easy for "us" to fall in love with the characters and the stories you create for them it would be very emotional to have to face it everyday yourself. But that is exactly why the story is a work of art. It is the best of all of you. The characters, the stories, the connections, the vivid visual pictures that jump off the pages are because your words take us there. This is a long review I know but Distraction is the last in a long line of amazing stories that allowed us a glimpse into another world. Thank you for giving Dylan and Sarah a happy ending. It took a decade but that is what happens right? With depression time flies by and it is insidious with peaks and valley's when you least expect them. The book is awesome. You have covered depression, grief and suicide making this final chapter in the Club Destiny series a knockout! Love the club name too. After all, what is depression if not a "Dichotomy" all on its own. Bravo. So sad to see the page turn!! 💋
