Unconventional and captivating
Riley and Sophia’s story is emotional, a tad unconventional and captivating. White hot sizzling chemistry drew them together, his career set a quick timetable for marriage and their youth and inexperience blew things apart. Unable to face the possibility of losing him while he was deployed, Sophia chose to make a full retreat from their marriage, at least physically. Emotionally, she has never been able to move on, hence the unsigned and unsent divorce papers. The only relationships she has had in the years since their breakup have been online and long distance. Now, Riley is no longer with the Marines and is the new Chief of Police in Sophia’s small hometown. His sister, who is an addict, lives nearby, but his main reason to take up residence in town is the driving need to reclaim his wife. Finding a house to rent next door to Sophia is a big bonus….close proximity and access to the woman who holds his heart. But Sophia is resistant, not wanting any more pain or loss in her life. She keeps claiming she hates him, but she knows deep down that she still loves Riley. One thing is for sure, they still set off sparks together and the passion is definitely still there. Unfortunately, so are Sophia’s fears of losing him to a dangerous profession, after all he is Chief of Police. Riley has matured and now regrets some the decisions he made with regard to his marriage to Sophia, decisions he made without her input, but he is a protector and trained warrior, so a desk job or a safe job just doesn’t suit him. Can he convince Sophia to give their marriage a second chance? Can Sophia let go of her fears and grab on to a second chance at a happily ever after with Riley?

Cute and Sweet Romance
I thought this was a cute novel. Sophia is sweet, has a big heart but has a block when it comes to Riley. I adore Riley as he is such a sweetheart and truly loves Sophia. The sparks between them sizzle, bot in and out of the bedroom. To be honest, I think Sophia needs to be a bit more mature, but did enjoy this romance.
