Publisher Description
He was the boy she wanted in high school. Now he's the man who just bought her dream vineyard.
Brooke Miller has had better weeks.
She's lost her boyfriend, her job, and possibly her professional reputation. But she has a plan to turn everything around: restore a struggling California vineyard to its former glory and finally build the life she's always wanted.
There's just one problem.
Billy Turlock bought it first.
Back in high school, Billy was the golden-boy athlete everyone loved. Brooke was the smart, driven girl on the sidelines who knew better than to expect him to notice her. They were complete opposites—and despite her secret crush, nothing ever happened between them.
Now Billy is a retired baseball star searching for a new purpose, and the vineyard is his chance to prove there's more to him than the game he can no longer play. He needs someone who knows the business.
He needs Brooke.
Taking the job means working side by side with the one man she never quite forgot—and living on the vineyard in the charming house that feels suspiciously like the home she's always dreamed of.
But close quarters have a way of changing things.
Because Billy remembers Brooke, too.
And when old attraction becomes impossible to ignore, Brooke begins to wonder if losing her dream vineyard to Billy might lead her to something even better: the second chance they never got the first time around.
Somebody Like You is a warm, emotional small-town romance featuring opposites attract, forced proximity, a retired baseball hero, vineyard romance, and a second chance at the love that almost happened.

Entertaining and enjoyable
Brooke and Billy’s story is a former friends to lovers romance with some angst, snark and self-discovery included. Both are forging a new path in their lives, one neither expected but we’re forced to take after a major loss. Brooke had thought she would be getting a promotion but her rat of an ex boyfriend made sure that didn’t happen by replacing her with a younger inexperienced model. Buying a vineyard and competing with her ex seems to be a great idea for revenge, but Billy, a former pro baseball player, buys it before she can do so. Billy was forced to leave his baseball career behind much earlier than expected after a career ending injury. He wants the vineyard to become a family business venture and he knows he is going to need the help of someone who knows how to operate the vineyard. He sets his sights on Brooke as his general manager, but she doesn’t make it easy for him, but the chance to have revenge against her ex leads her to accepting the job. Let’s just say that working closely together leads to a more intimate closeness and passionate encounters, even though Brooke does her best to resist him.
I liked the strong, confident main characters, their chemistry and their building awareness and feelings for each other. Their story had an easy, pleasant flow that made this book a very enjoyable read. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
