We loved the way this novel tweaks the typical enemies-to-lovers format, replacing the trope’s usual hatred with a searing professional rivalry that fills Shane and Ilya with explosive frustration and adoring awe—both of which pave the way for knee-buckling steaminess after the buzzer. But as red-hot as it is for two supposed adversaries to hook up in secret, a yearning for tenderness begins quietly underscoring their rivals-with-benefits arrangement, forcing them both to confront what they really want. This is an irresistible read.

So good
Such a beautiful story of self discovery and queer identity. The story was relentlessly compelling and the dialogue was natural and intimate in ways that truly reached me as a spectator. Topics that should be handled with care were done exactly as such which was something I greatly appreciated. The language and detailed narration also were a huge bonus for other parts of the book, but sometimes I got confused about how they were positioned lol. Overall amazing read, surprisingly wholesome, and even a bit of a tear jerker!
Amazing read
Read this after I saw the series being announced. Beautifully crafted in the sense that we can see and feel their relationship progress throughout the book up until the ending. Also, despite their disagreements, they never “left” each other which is much too common in romance books. 5/5

Rachel Reid has a gift and captures intimacy in romance novels like few authors do. The characters are dynamic and interesting, the story is well paced, and compelling.
