Publisher Description
Jolene’s life hasn’t been easy. She’d earned wealth from catwalks, movies, and every way possible that she could have been exploited as a child. Her image made millions, but no one knew what was going on behind closed doors. A troubled cousin saved Jolene at fifteen, and she disappeared from the public view and learned how to fend for herself. Now with an eight-year old in tow, Jolene wants to begin a new life. She just wants normal. Normal comes with many surprises, the biggest being a drop-dead gorgeous cowboy, and all around good guy, with some strange ideas.
Sawyer was a man of discipline. Big brother, ex-Marine, physical therapist, deputy, and half a dozen other titles described what he did, but not who he was as a person. He liked to help people, and he liked to keep busy. His life was fulfilling, but he was still yearning for something. A girl on a billboard, was a dream that couldn’t come true, until it did. Suddenly, she was real, she was beautiful, and she needed his help. She was also feisty, determined, and used to citified ways. Was it possible for her to see a small town man, with country ways could be perfect for her?
Publisher’s Note: This contemporary western romance contains elements of mystery, suspense, danger, and power exchange.

I have been utterly charmed by this group of characters
This reminds me a lot of my first encounter with the author’s writing: “A Different Kind of Woman”. The contemporary versus historical setting is the biggest difference. They both have the sweeping family saga feel and a much more literary fiction style of storytelling. They’re also big books with a lot of story. I adored Jolene. She’s fought long and hard to get to where she is now and she’s not about to let anyone steal her happiness. I mostly loved Sawyer. There’s a couple of punishments he deals out that I don’t think were merited. One, and the aftermath of the events that preceded it, left me shaking my head asking, “how is this even considered her fault?” I give both the author and Sawyer credit because we get to see him apologize after the punishment I felt was the most unwarranted. I have been utterly charmed by this group of characters and I hate to let them go already.
