A Magical Puzzle
Tamara as a mortal in a world of magical and mythical beings was the ideal first person POV storyteller. The novel opens with a very somber funeral of three family members. I thought there was solid backstory and character descriptions to make the the situation more realistic. Hearing Tamara’s thoughts and feelings as more details are revealed really painted a clear picture of who she was. Situations from the past with relevance to our understanding now were briefly shared though flashback snippets. It is just so much better experiencing those details through Tamara’s eyes and emotions! The action and plot progress were quite consistent, ensuring a good balance between action and some of the fun, quirky and emotional exchanges. I knew there was going to be a cliffhanger ending but I never anticipated the significant twist before that. Wow. I can’t wait to see what Tamara will do next!.
