He should hate me. I certainly do and have the scars—internally and externally—to prove it.
Except, he says he not only doesn't hate me, but still wants me.
After all of these years, all this pain, I don't understand why, but I've run out of excuses as to why we can't be together and he knows it.
Maybe I'm heading into an emotional trap, one where he exacts his revenge by making me fall in love with him so he can break my heart? Jokes on him, I never stopped loving him.
If admitting my feelings gives him the closure he needs to let go of his lifelong demons and start this next phase with a clean slate, I guess that's what I'll have to do.
If it destroys me in the process, so be it.
The possibility terrifies me, but letting him love me scares me even more.

This is the final book in the Veteran K9 series. I’ve been waiting for Janey and Saint’s story and it didn’t disappoint. The first part of the book gives us the back story to how these two first meet and sets the stage for the ten years it takes for them to be together. They are out of the military and in the same place working as K9 handlers. The stars have finally aligned and Janey and Saint finally get their HEA. I loved this series and can’t wait to see what comes next! I received an ARC copy of this book.
At Long Last
Saint and Janey have a lot of history - some good some bad - but whether they can work towards a future, well, that’s the question. I loved how this story brought everything full-circle, providing insight into how the early teams met in the Forces and clarifying some of Janey’s history. There’s some beautiful parts and some difficult parts in this story - but at its heart, it was an amazing read.
