NYC Nights 8

Covid-19 - a life altering virus which encompassed the world and affected every human being during 2020. This continuing pandemic has killed, maimed, and destroyed countless lives all over the globe. It was politicized, enabling incredibly destructive, willful negligence for combating the virus, from a large amount of people in positions of power. And it opened eyes as to the maybe not so surprisingly selfish behavior of too many regular folk, who went out of their way making it harder for those of us trying to acclimate and do the right thing (wearing masks, and social distancing).



Sadly this is the lead opening for my ebook, simply because it impacted my day to day living. Society shut down, and people were asked to stay home, only leaving for necessities. Or, as in my case, having a job where it was deemed ‘essential’, so staying home wasn’t an option. Plus, factoring in my own personal acquaintance with Covid-19 in late February/early March, I experienced horrific symptoms being sick for a short period of time (and long term effects, which affect me to this very day).



I did add a new imaging weapon into the shooting arsenal though, the Pentax HD PENTAX-D FA 70-210mm f/4 ED SDM WR Lens. Having that extra focal length enabled bringing what’s distant closer, adding some interesting compositions and perspectives into the mix. Trying to abide by the authorities and limit my time spent outside inhibited my ability to conduct shoots around the city. A handful of imaging to start off the year, a singular summer moment capturing the 4th of July from ze Roof, and a scattering of shoots during the fall into winter. The volume isn’t there as usual, yet the quality remains.



With everything that transpired, I’m appreciative having what I have to share. The long term ramifications for imaging let alone life are still being figured out, a work in progress.
