Potluck

This high-interest, low-vocabulary photostory is suitable for adult basic education (ABE) and English-as-a-Second-Language (ESL) students who are beginning readers. Mel questions the freshness of meat he wants to add to stew he's making for a potluck. After some consideration, Mel uses the meat. Two friends who were at the potluck get sick. They think it's because of a fish dish they ate. Should Mel say something and risk his friends' anger? This story will invite discussion as students are called upon to be the judge.
