The Republic has fractured. A year of warfare created new, independent planets and star systems, most beyond the Republic's control.

The Event Horizon crew has done their best to avoid worlds still loyal to the Republic, lest someone recognizes Nate Kennet as wanted seer and anarchist Dakota Allerson. But a new assignment complicates matters. Now they must transport two former Dissenters back to their homeworld: Dionysus.

Not only is Myrddin Graiko waiting for Margo Symms to honor their deal and hand over Dakota, but numerous Novateran officials are in the capital, overseeing the planet's transition from an empire to a democracy. The crew must tread lightly and hope no one recognizes them during their short stay on world.

And Myrddin has plans of his own…
