Wick the tree messenger is bound for success. His work as a messenger is getting him recognized, and he's on track to become an ambassador for his sidelined people, the leshy.

To prove himself worthy of the job, Wick's mentors require him to make just one more hurdle: a thief has been slowly collecting all the pieces of the powerful Heather Stone, and Wick must carry his people's piece to a better-protected location.

He doesn't make it far before he's overtaken by the very thief he was warned about. The biggest problem? Archer's intentions are different than Wick thought. His plans might even be noble, if they weren't coming from a thief.

Wick doesn't know what to believe, but if Archer is right, it could spell destruction for them all. A scourge is coming; a wall of fire that hasn't been seen since the ancient days of Aro. And the only things in its way are a wary messenger and a scheming thief.
