The Exorcist
I first read this book many years ago when I was 17, now I’m 66. What a difference the years make. On the first read I was riveted and the idea of a demon lurking in the shadows waiting to take over your mind and body was truly frightening. Fast forward 50 years and I find Blatty’s style of writing a little over-done and melodramatic. The character of Kinderman is terribly annoying. Was he before or after Columbo? I can’t remember. Still, the book poses fundamental questions about good & evil, faith, and courage in a unique story line. Also it was the basis for the, at the time, genuinely frightening horror movie.
Book good, bad version
There are numerous spelling and grammatical errors in this version of the book, and it glitched out a skipped a whole section. Not worth even the $2.99 paid for it.
